BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:25 P.M.) – A Turkish military convoy made its way to the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate on Friday amid the recent advances made by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
According to a report from the Hama Governorate, the Turkish military convoy deployed within 2km of the Syrian Arab Army’s front-lines along the Hama-Idlib axis.
The Turkish military does not appear to be pulling out of this region, despite the Syrian Arab Army’s insistence on pushing into the militant-held areas of Hama and Idlib.
This move by the Turkish military is meant to deter the Syrian Army from advancing further into the Idlib Governorate, as their allied rebel groups are unable to withstand many of these attacks by the government forces.
Turkey has 12 observation posts throughout northwestern Syria; they are supposed to overlook the demilitarized zone and help keep the peace in the area.
However, these observation posts have done little to halt the hostilities in northwestern Syria, which is why the Syrian Army and their Russian allies agreed to launch a new operation in the region.
