BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:45 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was filmed raising the flag of the Syrian Arab Republic over a military post along the Turkish border on Thursday.

According to reports, the Syrian Arab Army raised the flag of the Syrian Arab Republic over the border crossing in the city of Kobani (var. ‘Ayn Al-‘Arab), which they now share control of with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

In a video that was released on Thursday, the Syrian soldiers can be seen raising this flag along the Turkish border.

Kobani was the scene of one of the most important battles in the Syrian conflict, as the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) suffered their first major defeat at this city in 2015.

Following their loss at Kobani, the Islamic State’s reign of terror in northern Syria would begin its four-year-long collapse.
