BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:00 P.M.) – The Ansarallah forces launched a new offensive in northern Yemen on Wednesday, following several airstrikes by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition in the Al-Jawf, Sa’ada, Sana’a and Hajjah governorates.
Backed by heavy artillery, the Ansarallah forces launched a powerful attack in the Jabal Al-Saqiyah region on Wednesday morning, as their troops attempted to advance towards the Al-Ghail District in the western part of the Al-Jawf Governorate.
According to the latest reports, the Ansarallah forces were able to take hold of Wadi Shuwiq and several hilltops overlooking the Al-Ghail District.
Following this advance, the Ansarallah forces reportedly entered the Ghail District, where they are said to be currently clashing with the pro-government troops.
This latest offensive by the Ansarallah forces comes just weeks after they captured the entire Al-Nihm District of eastern Sana’a.
The capture of the Nihm District would coincide with the Ansarallah forces’ entry into western Marib, where they later advanced within 30 km of the provincial capital.
